Temple in honor of the Acheiropaeic Image of the God Jesus Christ

The history of the Spassky temple, located in the center of the village of Vengerovo, is interesting and unique. The temple that adorns the village nowadays can be called the fourth in a row.

The first church was wooden and burned down in 1847. Through the efforts of parishioners in 1849 the second church was built. In 1904, it was abolished due to dilapidation.

The new stone single-altar temple in the name of the Miraculous Image of Christ the Savior was founded on June 18, 1901 and consecrated on January 29, 1904. In 1936, it was closed by the authorities and looted.

During the Great Patriotic War, the temple building was used as a granary. In different years there were warehouses, shops, cinema in its territory. In summer of 1992, church services resumed in the temple building. The reconstruction project of the temple was developed by an architect from the city of Novosibirsk.

Since October 2002, upon the blessing of the Eminentissimus Tikhon, Archbishop of Novosibirsk and Berdsk, the temple complex in the village of Vengerovo in the Novosibirsk region has been a courtyard of the monastery of the Holy New Martyrs of Russia in the city of Novosibirsk.

The temple complex includes the following items:
• the temple in honor of the Miraculous Image of the Lord Jesus Christ;
• temple in the name of the Martyr Princess Elizabeth;
• chapel of the Great Martyr Paraskeve Friday;
• the chapel-the crucible;
• over-well chapel;
• the brethren's building with the monastery canteen;
• utility premises.

The parish in honor of the Miraculous Image of the Lord Jesus Christ is engaged in missionary, spiritual-and-educational activities and social service. The patronal feast of the Icon of Christ of Edessa is celebrated on August 29.

How to get there: the distance from the city of Novosibirsk to the village of Vengerovo is 460 km by car. There is a bus service from the Novosibirsk bus station (4 Krasny avenue) to the village of Vengerovo.
