St. Nicholas Temple
The congregation of St. Nicholas Temple is the only Orthodox congregation in Maslyaninsky district of Novosibirsk region. The temple was founded on December 13, 1883 and was called the Temple of St. Nicholas in honor of St. Nicholas of Mirkili. According to legend, the Icon of St. Nicholas, which gave the name to the temple, was presented by the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II, when he was still cesarevitch, stayed in these places on his way to India (near the village of Maslyanino, in the village of Yegoryevskoye, there are gold mines that once belonged to the royal family).
In the late 20s of XX century the temple, like other religious institutions, was closed. Church utensils and icons were burned down. In different years there was a granary, club, House of Pioneers there in the building. In 1990, the temple was restored and was named St. Nicholas.
