Женская гимназия 1905 года
The three-storeyed house on the corner of Altayskaya and Gondatti streets (now Lenina street and Uritskogo street) belonged to one of the rich people of the city of Novonikolayevsk, Barnaul merchant Ivan Timofeevich Surikov. The building was built in 1905 and was used for the House of the City Treasury.
In 1913. I.T. Surikov leased the house to the Board of Trustees to house the Novonikolaevsk Girl's High School, which was opened by Pavla Aleksandrovna Smirnova. The Board of Trustees was allowed to make the necessary repairs for the needs of the gymnasium.
After the revolution the house suffered losses: the gate, the balcony overlooking Lenina str., the parapet were destroyed. Great damage to the building, and especially to its decor, caused fire in 1975. In December 1999, there was another fire. In 2000, work began on the restoration of the house. By 2002, the bulk of the work was completed.
The building combines elements of baroque, classicism and traditional Siberian wooden architecture. The house was taken under protection on April 14, 1976 as a monument of wooden architecture of the early XX century.
