Не видел – значит, не был

If you haven’t been to these places, that means you haven't been to the Novosibirsk region.

1. The bridge with the largest arched span

The Bugrinsky automobile bridge with the largest arched span in the CIS was opened in Novosibirsk on October 8, 2014. This is the third bridge across the Ob River in Novosibirsk. It connects not only the Kirovsky and Oktyabrsky districts of Novosibirsk, but also two federal highways – M-51 and M-52. Moreover, the bridge duplicates the section of the M-52 Chuisky tract highway.

It took 4,5 years to build this bridge. Its total length, including approaches, is 2091 meters. The length of the arch span is 380 meters, this indicator is unique for such arches all over the world. Bridge is supported by 30 reinforced concrete pylons.

Visually, the arch of the bridge resembles a giant red bow. This is symbolic – the red bow is one of the main elements on the coat of arms of Novosibirsk. You can see it even during the excursion.

2. The longest metro bridge

The Novosibirsk metro bridge is the longest covered metro bridge in the world – its length with galleries is more than 2 kilometers. This record was set in 1986 and has not been broken so far.

The structure was installed on its pylons by a method that has no analogues in the  metro construction practice – a phased longitudinal step by step placing of elements from one river bank to another. The overwater part of the metro bridge is a beam 896 meters long and 6,200 tons weight.

Another interesting fact about the Novosibirsk metro bridge is that in winter it shrinks, and in summer it stretches by 50 cm.

The metro bridge is located near the River Station.

3. Wooden architecture of Novosibirsk

Novosibirsk is a city of contrasts. Walking around the city center, its history can be viewed through the prism of architecture: you can see everything from wooden buildings to modern architecture.

Novonikolaevsk is the first name of the city on the Ob River, which later became Novosibirsk. This is where the history of the city begins. Since that time, a lot of sights have been preserved in Novosibirsk. Walking next to them, you feel like you  moved to the Russian Empire times. . We invite you to this amazing journey.

4. The "Gusi" building

The construction of the Information Technology Center in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok began in 2010. The Novosibirsk Technopark was created with the aim of introducing advanced scientific developments to the industry. Today this technopark is one of the most successful in Russia. The new Information Technology Center has become the central platform for the IT cluster being created in the Novosibirsk Technopark. Novosibirsk residents call it the "Gusi" building for its unusual appearance (in Russian "Gusi" means "geese").

The total area of the complex is over 23 thousand square meters. The building includes office and laboratory rooms, a data center, a business incubator and its own exhibition center.

The Information Technology Center is pride of the Academgorodok architecture and its decoration. The two towers, which are connected by a gallery with a glass floor, are visible from almost anywhere in the town. The complex of buildings is made of glass.

Location: 11 Nikolaeva ul., Novosibirsk (Akademgorodok)

5. The "Gusenica" building

It is commissioned in December 2015.

Koltsovo is the fourth science city in Russia, thanks to the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology  "Vector" that is one of the biggest scientific enterprises of biotechnological profile in Russia.

6. Batman

Yes, Novosibirsk has its own Batman. This is a skyscraper in the center of the city, which got its nickname from the architectural similarity with the eponymous comic book hero.

7. HPP

In 1913, in tsarist Russia, it was necessary to build a hydroelectric power station in Novonikolaevsk. But the project was realized only in 1961. Visitors of the organized excursion will get to know all the difficulties ariosing during the HPP construction: the First World War, the October Revolution, the Great Patriotic War, the struggle with swampy areas, the visit of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers N.S. Khrushchev and others.

8. Museum of Death

It is the only museum in Russia dedicated to the study of the origins and traditions of funeral ceremonies, the history of remembrance. Its official opening took place on May 14, 2012 on the territory of the Novosibirsk Crematorium Memorial Park.
