Suzun copper-smelting plant and mint

The complex "Suzun copper-smelting plant and mint" includes the building of the Historical-and-Industrial Museum "Tolchelnya", the system of hydraulic structures, the historical boundary of the industrial zone of the Suzun copper-smelting plant and mint (according to the plan of 1765), as well as water areas and the remains of buildings.

The ensemble of buildings of the Suzun copper-smelting plant and mint is the evidence of the industrial and mining stage of the development of Siberia of the XVIII-XIX centuries. The plant was built in 1764, and worked until 1914. In connection with the construction of the plant and the mint, the modern settlement of Suzun emerged. The dam was built on the Nizhny Suzun river for the construction of the plant and mint. It formed a pond, on which the plant's hydraulic structures were built. The significant part of these structures such as dam, water discharge slots, ripples and fragments of water distribution systems is placed to the present time in their historical place.

The fragmentary remains of the gabions on the left bank of the Suzun river preserved in the territory of the point of interest. The coastal ridges were part of the complex of hydraulic structures of the Suzun copper-smelting plant and mint. These are special structures that were built to strengthen the banks from being washed away by the flood.
The first mention of these ridges is found on maps of 1798.

In addition, the object of the mid XIX century, i.e. the "crush" ("throng"), remained in the territory of the plant. This building was part of a smelter and was intended for grinding of limestone, which was added in production to purify copper from impurities of harmful metals. It is of value in terms of history, archaeology and architecture. The building was reconstructed. Currently,  there is the historical-and-industrial museum "Tolchelnya" in its territory, the exposition of which combines the whole process of copper-smelting production.

Location: Lenina street (in the central part of the settlement), the worker's settlement of Suzun (district center), Suzunsky district, Novosibirsk region
