1. THE NOVOSIBIRSK STATE ACADEMIC OPERA AND BALLET THEATRE
The largest theatre building in Russia is impressive in its scale. It has rightfully earned its unofficial name – the Siberian Colosseum. The theatre building itself is a visiting card of the Novosibirsk region and an architectural monument of federal significance.
2. NOVOSIBIRSK ZOO NAMED AFTER ROSTISLAV SHILO
This zoo is one of the largest in Russia. The Novosibirsk residents are proud of it. 11,000 animals of 790 species are kept on the territory of 65 hectares. The Novosibirsk Zoo breeds felines and weasels. This is why there is one of the world’s best collections of representatives of these families.
3. SUZUN ZAVOD. MONETNIY DVOR
One of the most interesting things about this complex is that it was built in 1764 and it is located in the old settlement called Suzun. Siberian copper coins were minted here for a century. You can make such a coin by yourself and take it with you as a souvenir.
4. THE CENTER OF OCEANOGRAPHY AND MARINE BIOLOGY "DELPHINIYA"
For the first time behind the Urals, far from the seas and oceans a large-scale project of a high-tech year-round stationary scientific and educational oceanographic complex has been implemented. Only the area of the complex halls is more than 8,000 square meters. Visit a circus show with dolphins, white polar whales, sea lions and Pacific walruses, walk through the tunnel of the underground oceanarium. If you want to get to know the marine life better, a swimming center with dolphins is open for a visit.
5. AKADEMGORODOK
The world famous scientific center. It is one of the main point of pride of the entire Russian scientific community. The city of scientists has its own unique atmosphere. It immerses you into the massif of birch and pine forests. It is one of the most important scientific and educational centers in Russia. Dozens of research institutes, the world known Novosibirsk State University, the Museum of Railway Technology, the Technopark, the Botanical Garden, The Historical and Architectural Open Air Museum and many more are situated in the Akademgorodok.
6. ONE OF THE BEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD
Novosibirsk State University (NSU) is a national research university, and the point of pride of Akademgorodok.
10 % of the Akademgorodok population are NSU students. NSU is closely connected with the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Early-year students are engaged in scientific research at the institutes of the SB RAS and in fact, they are engaged in real science during studies.
The University has repeatedly reached the top of international and Russian rankings. Since 2013 NSU has been participating in the 5-100 state program to advance to the top 100 universities of the world.
In 2015 the official opening of the new main educational building of NSU took place. The originally designed administrative building has evoked a lot of associations among the residents of Akademgorodok. The most popular comparison is the R2-D2 robot from Star Wars.

7. THE LARGE NOVOSIBIRSK PLANETARIUM
The large space center is situated at one of the highest points of Novosibirsk. The most modern technologies and mechanisms are presented here. It is the best planetarium in the eastern part of Russia.
8. MIKHAILOVSKAYA EMBANKMENT
This place has huge historical significance for the city. The first bridge across the river was erected here in 1893, and the first park "City Beginning" is also located on the Mikhailovskaya Embankment. Now there is only one span of the old historical bridge left, and a monument to Alexander III is constructed next to this span.
You can have a snack in a cozy cafe, visit an amusement park, rent a bike or a scooter, take nice photos. You can also ride the 67-meter Ferris wheel. At the end of the say you can try a river walk under the bridges of Novosibirsk, enjoying the views of the Ob River in the evening light.
9. THE HOUSE WITH A FERRIS WHEEL "KRUG"
The 67-meter Ferris wheel is the highest behind the Urals and the third highest in Russia. Residents and guests of the city can see Novosibirsk from a bird's eye view from the top of the wheel. And that is not all. A light show turns on at the wheel in the evening and the wheel becomes brighter and more visible. It is impossible to pass by such a beauty. It is located on the Mikhailovskaya embankment.
10. AQUAPARK "AKVAMIR"
The indoor aquapark "Akvamir" can surprise guests of any age. It is the largest in Russia, the fourth in Europe and the tenth in the world by its scale. More than 150 water attractions (with a maximum height of 21 meters), a wave pool with an area of 1000 square meters, baths and saunas of various types (the largest hammam in Europe, 3 pools, 13 baths and saunas, waterfalls, hydromassage, air massage, comprehensive body care services) are arranged here. The aquapark is a great option for a family vacation. A children's water park is also equipped here. It is a big themed town with 80 attractions, slides and pools!
11. THE OB SEA
The Novosibirsk reservoir, which locals call the Ob Sea due to its great size, stretches for 200 km. The distance is so big that you cant even see the opposite bank in the widest part of the Ob Sea. That is why the reservoir is called the sea. The depth is also rather big – it is up to 25 m.
Many parks and beaches are located on the Ob Sea.
12. KOLYVAN MERCHANT VILLAGE
Just a few dozen kilometers from Novosibirsk there is a unique Kolyvan merchant village. This place is a part of an ancient Russia, which is more than two hundred years old, and up to now Kolyvan carefully preserves its historical wealth. During the Kolyvan excursion, the straight and wide streets of the ancient town delight tourists with preserved to this day chopped wooden houses decorated with ornate carvings, and stone merchant mansions that represents the former wealth and prosperity of the local population.
13. NOVOSIBIRSK MUSEUM OF RAILWAY EQUIPMENT NAMED AFTER AKULININ
Today the storage of the museum has 182 items, 118 of which are railway equipment and 64 are auto-tractor retro equipment. More than 45,000 people visit the museum annually. The museum staff organizes more than 400 excursions for various categories of visitors.
