Памятный знак в честь подвига бердчан в годы Великой Отечественной войны

Construction of the Memorial sign in honor of the feat of Berdsk citizens during the Great Patriotic War (Memorial of Glory) was carried out in the period from 1972 till 1980 yrs. The author of the ensemble was muralist Aleksandr Sergeevich Chernobrovtsev (12.09.1930-13.04.2014). The opening took place on May 9, 1980, in the year of the 35th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Most of the Berdsk citizens, including schoolchildren, took part in the formation of the Victory Park and the Memorial. The obelisk of Victory consists of five blocks of red marble. The bottom four symbolize the difficult war years 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944. The upper block is the victorious 1945, it is depicted as a Waving Victory Banner. The height of these marble altitudes is equal to 1,418 centimeters, that is exactly the number of military days.

The paths of the park converge to the center of the complex, i.e. to the Eternal flame. It is lit in the center of a kind of mausoleum, i.e. the symbolic burial ground. The pylons with the names of the fallen are on the walls of the mausoleum.

Students of educational organizations and institutions of professional education carry out Watch of Glory weekly on Fridays at the Memorial of Glory. During the Days of Military Glory, rallies and memorial events are held at the monument. Every year, on May 9, an Hour of Remembrance is held at the memorial, accompanied by the speech by senior officials, minute of silence, parade of military-and-patriotic clubs and associations.

How to get there: the distance from the city of Novosibirsk to the city of Berdsk is 38 km by car. One can get to the city of Berdsk by electric train on the routes "Novosibirsk-Main-Berdsk", "Novosibirsk-Main-Iskitim", "Novosibirsk-Main-Cherepanovo", "Novosibirsk-Main-Dorogino", "Novosibirsk-Main-Lozhok". Besides, there is route taxi No. 332 from the public transport stop "River-port" to the city of Berdsk. Then, it is necessary to take the route taxi No. 13 (1013) and go from the stop "Station" in the city of Berdsk (in Vokzalnaya str.) to the stop "Museum". The Memorial of Glory is located 370 m from the stop "Museum".
