Memorial Stone to the Berd Sailors, fallen and alive

The proposal to create the "Memorial of Naval Glory" in the city of Berdsk was made in 1999 by the Union of seamen veterans of the Naval Forces "Crew". In total, more than 6,000 residents of the city served in the fleets (according to "Regional Military Commissariat") at various times. The five veterans of the Second World War were among them (as on 2001). Most likely, the idea of creating the "memorial" was proposed by G.G. Gusachenko, the submariner of the 60s.

The following individuals were involved into the development of the project: I.A. Stavitskii, A.A. Antonov, V.N. Melnikov, etc. Marble stone was delivered from the quarry "Lozhok" by I.A. Stavitskii and A.A. Antonov. In summer of 2004, an anchor weighing 600 kg was lifted from the bottom of the Outport (ObGES micro-district) and delivered to the City Park of Culture and Recreation.

The opening of "Memorial stone to sailors-Berdsk residents" was scheduled on July 25, 2004, i.e. on the Navy Day. The idea of the monument lies in the following: the rock, i.e. the shore, to which sailors always return. The Memorial stone has a stylized "ship mast", on which the St. Andrew's Flag is constantly fluttering. The "running lights", namely red-green (right-left broadside) and white (masthead light) are always switched on on the mast.

During the celebration of the Navy Day (on the last Sunday of July) during the solemn gathering, traditionally have been held for ten years already, Naval Flags (USSR Navy and St. Andrew's Flag) are always risen accompanied by the anthem of "Varangian" on the yards (cross beam of the mast).

The City Park of Culture and Recreation is 1.2 km from the railway station "Berdsk" (in Maksima Gorkogo street).
