Memorial "To the Military Brotherhood of Defenders of the Fatherland"

The monument with the following inscription was installed in the city of Berdsk near the Center of Culture "Motherland" in February 1994: "To those who worthily carried their cross. Afghanistan 1979-1989". The author of the project was Berdsk architect Nikolai Ivanovich Vinnikov.

In 2012, measures were launched to create the Memorial to the "Military brotherhood of defenders of the Fatherland", designed to preserve the memory of the Berdsk citizens who died in the performance of military duty. The initiators of the Memorial were public organizations uniting veterans of local wars and military conflicts.

The Memorial was inaugurated on February 23, 2016. Each of its elements is filled with a special meaning. The arches of the two main entrances symbolize the solemnity of the temples of all confessions of Russia, as men of all nations and religions fought and gave their lives for the Fatherland. The main element of the memorial, i.e. the sculptural composition "Cranes fly", represents the souls of the departed soldiers. Eternal memory of them is kept by pylons of five main steles, on which 61 names of the lost Berdsk citizens (four of them are Heroes of Russia) are located.

During the Days of Military Glory, rallies and memorial events are held at the memorial to the "Military brotherhood of defenders of the Fatherland". The most mass actions at the monument pass on Days of Memory of the feat of the soldiers who were lost in "hot" spots (Afghanistan, Chechnya, etc.).
