Monument to Z.A. Kosmodemianskaia
In 1965, the Director of General Secondary School No. 11 in the city of Berdsk, Petr Aleksandrovich Kuznetsov, laid a stone in front of the school and announced that there would be a monument to Zoia Kosmodemianskaia, in whose name the pioneer squad of the school is called.
All the pupils in full dress uniform, representatives of the city authorities and the administration of the Berdsk Electromechanical Plant lined up in front of the school on August 30, 1975. A celebratory assembly took place. This patriotic action was assigned to sister-city relationships: pupils of school No. 11 Dima Kabankov and Zhenia Rogacheva went to mother of Zoia Kosmodemianskaia. The handful of soil, which was laid in the base of the monument, was brought from the village of Petrishchevo of the Moscow region, from the place of death of the heroine.
Laying of flowers at the memorial is usually made on the Days of Military Glory. Every year first-form schoolchildren take a sightseeing tour, thanks to which they learn the history of the monument.
