The Museum in honor of N.K. Roerich

The Museum in honor of N.K. Roerich, i.e. the world-famous artist, writer, scientist, traveler, cultural figure, was built by the method of folk construction by the Siberian Roerich Society (SibRS) in 2007. This project was carried out thanks to the founder of SibRS Natalia Dmitrievna Spirina, student of the Roerichs in the second generation, poet and public figure.

The activity of the museum is aimed at studying and popularizing the creative heritage of the Roerich family (Nikolai Konstantinovich, Elena Ivanovna, Iurii Nikolaevich, and Sviatoslav Nikolaevich), the main idea of which is the overriding need for the spiritual and moral improvement of human.

The architectural ensemble of the museum includes the following items: 3-storeyed building of the museum, arch "Bell of Peace", memorial (chapel) in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The Museum in honor of N.K. Roerich presents original works of the artist (from private collections), objects belonging to his family, as well as reproductions of paintings, which provide an opportunity for wider acquaintance with the ideas of Roerich. Works of other artists are also exhibited here.

The museum is the well-known cultural center of the city. The concerts of classical music, the work of the pedagogical section and the music lecture hall, All-Russian and city holidays attract both Novosibirsk residents and city guests.

The activity of the museum is largely social. Short films of the SibRS studio are shown to visitors at no extra cost and tours of the exhibition halls are conducted. On festive events, the opening of exhibitions, as well as every second Saturday of the month the entrance to the museum is free of charge.
