The Aviation Museum named after A.I. Pokryshkin
The Aviation Museum named after A.I. Pokryshkin is located in the building of the Novosibirsk Aero Club. The idea of creating of the Aviation Museum belongs to the chief of "Siblet" Vladimir Leonidovich Smirnov .
The grand opening of the museum took place on March 14, 1998. It was timed to the 85th anniversary of the birth of Three times Hero of the Soviet Union Air Marshal Aleksandr Ivanovich Pokryshkin, whose name was given to the museum.
The purpose of creation of the museum was information-and-educational, scientific, career guidance for visitors in the field of domestic aviation.
The leading expositions of the museum were materials from private collections and archives, provided by:
- the widow of the unsurpassed ace in World War II, Three times Hero of the Soviet Union Air Marshal A.I. Pokryshkin;
- Marina Lavrentevna Popovich, i.e. test pilot, honored master of sports of the USSR, the only person in the world who set 101 world records;
- Pavel Matveevich Nedzeliuk, i.e. Lieutenant-General of Aviation, honored military pilot, pupil of the Novosibirsk Aero Club;
- Valerii Gennadevich Domrachev, i.e. Colonel, participant of the Afghan events, Knight of the Order of the Red Star;
- masters of aircraft, helicopter sports, test pilots, pilots-instructors.
The museum conducts "Lessons of courage", lessons of "History of aviation" for pupils of schools, lyceums, colleges, institutes, cadet corps, with cadets of military schools.
The guide introduces visitors to the history of aviation, to the characteristic stages of human learning of the "fifth ocean", with the names and achievements of aviation specialists, who made the honor and glory of Soviet, Russian and World aviation. It introduces to the role and place of aviation in ensuring the country's defense, economic activities, space exploration, with the victories of our aviation athletes in motherland and abroad. And all this on bright examples from biographies of pupils of the Novosibirsk Aero Club and the Novosibirsk Aviation Training Center named after A.I. Pokryshkin, as well as people of flight professions, one way or another connected their lives with the city of Novosibirsk from the early XX century to the present day.
The Aviation Museum named after A.I. Pokryshkin joined the League of Museums of the Novosibirsk region and takes part in all its events.
The Museum hosts various events such as: events of patriotic orientation, joint leisure activities, celebration of memorable dates, awarding of winners of competitions and anniversaries, meeting of graduates of the Aero Club, veterans of the Second World War and others.
The Aviation Museum named after A.I. Pokryshkin is the regular participant of the following fairs: Uchsib, SibEXTREME. It takes part in visiting exhibitions and lectures.
The museum is marked by certificates of honor, diplomas, and letters of appreciation. And for its great contribution to the promotion of aviation and everyday military-and-patriotic work among the youth of the city and region, it was awarded the medal of A.I. Pokryshkin.
