Vengerovsky Museum of Local History named after P.M. Ponomarenko
The Vengerovsky Museum of Local History was established in 1978, and on November 7, 1979 it was opened to the public. The museum was renamed in honor of its founder Petr Mikhailovich Ponomarenko on October 24, 1994.
The museum has 7,459 items of the main fund and 5,507 items of the scientific auxiliary fund as on January 1, 2016. There are 6 exhibition halls. Current expositions are as follows: "Nature of Vengerovsky district", "The Palaeolithic age", "The Neolitic Age", "The bronze Age", "The iron Age", "Ust-Tartassky Outpost", "Archaeological monuments in the territory of the district", "Settlement of the district in the XVIII–early XX centuries", "Moscow tract", "Siberian hut", "There is a village on the highway", "For the power of the Soviets", "Period of formation", "Fiery miles of war", "From Afghanistan to Chechnya", "Founder of the museum P.M. Ponomarenko", "Vengerovsky District in the XX century", etc.
The museum significant collections include the following ones: "Numismatics", "Archaeology", "Ethnography", "Documents, rare books". The most interesting exhibits are:
- rarities such as: archaeological objects (skull of rhinoceros, horns of giant deer, bronze ware, containers of Bolsherechenskaya and Kulayskaya cultures);
- subjects of ethnography such as: truck arc, all-cut bucket, foot iron, peak of Siberian partisans;
- documentation such as: recipes Spassky drug store, Spassky village hospital (1913-1919 yrs.).
The museum is located in the two-storeyed wooden building (former house of merchant of D. Kochugov), built in the second half of the XIX century.
The staff of the museum conducts search-and-collection and research activities. Excursions, meetings of youth with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, participants of local wars are held. Lectures, talks, evenings for memorable dates of history, exhibitions of decorative and applied arts, photo exhibitions are organized.

How to get there: the distance from the city of Novosibirsk to the village of Vengerovo is 460 km by car. One can get from the Novosibirsk bus station (43a Dmitriya Shamshurina ul.) to the village of Vengerovo by bus on the route "Novosibirsk-Vengerovo".
Working hours: excursions are conducted from Monday to Thursday from 11:00 to 16:00
