River Om

The Om River is a river in the south of the Western Siberian plains in Russia. It rises in the Vasyugan Swamp at the border of the Novosibirsk and Omsk regions, flowing into the Irtysh River. It is about 1091 km long, and square is 52 600 sq km. There is Kreshenskoe village in Ubinsky district next to the river.

The water resource is mainly snow. Flood lasts from May to July, sometimes until August. There are a lot of fish in the river. There are pike, perch, crucian, roach, ruff, dace, ide, burbot, gudgeon, bream, tench.

The river within the Ubinsky district flows through the territory with rich hunting potential. Here are found elk, roe deer, sable, bear, badger, beaver, wild boar, hare, fox, muskrat, marten, black grouse, hazel grouse, partridge, etc.

In the upper stream the Om river flows through the marshy dark taiga consisting of spruce, fir, cedar. To the south in the forests there are birch, pine and aspen. In the swampy northern forests there are mosses, lichen, shrubs, wild rosemary, ferns. Berry grows: marsh cranberry, cowberry, blueberry, blueberry, cloudberry, black and red currant, forest raspberry, bird cherry, drupe, sea buckthorn. The area is rich of various mushrooms.

How to get there: the distance between Ubinskoe village to Kreshenskoe village is 90 km by car, from Novosibirsk to Kreshenskoe village – 310km by car.

There is scheduled bus from Novosibirsk Bus Terminal to Ubinskoe village. Then, you need to take Ubinskoe-Kreshenskoe bus.
