Lake Ubinskoe
The Ubinskoe Lake is the second biggest lake in the Novosibirsk region. It is located between two districts – Ubinsky district and Kargatsky district. The reservoir is drainless and freshwater. The length of the lake is 37 km, width is 17 m, middle deep is 0.6 m, and the deepest place is one meter.
The basin of Lake Ubinskoe and its shores attract different waterfowls and water birds. Among waterfowls you can see here whooper swan, mute swan, black-throated diver, rufous-crested duck, red-necked grebe, gray duck, gray goose, pecan, mallard, shoveler, dunbird. As well you can see large colony of ernes on the north-eastern part of the lake. In total around the lake there are about 142 species of birds. The mammal class is represented by 25 species.
In the middle of 20 century the lake was famous for its large number of fish. There were carp, perch, carp, peled, bream, roach, ide, pike, ruff, and minnow. In the 1990s fish number became to reduce, and now there is a minnow in the lake and two kinds of carps - golden and silver. Therefore, the lake is not attractive place for fishermen.
Lake Ubinskoe became the first lake in Siberia, where bream was acclimatized (in 1929). Later, the bream was spread to many other reservoirs of Siberia.
On the shore of the lake in Cherny Cape village there is hunting house “Ubinskoe”, belonging to the Military-hunting society of the Siberian Military District. The hunting area is 256 thousand hectares. Here you can hunt for waterfowl and swamp, ungulates, and bear.
The lake is connected with the legend, according to which Khan Kuchum, escaping the persecution of Russian troops, flooded his gold reserves in Ubinskoe lake.

How to get there: the distance between Ubinskoe Village to Ubinskoe Lake is 60 km by car, from Novosibirsk to the Lake – 280 km by car.
There is scheduled bus from Novosibirsk Bus Terminal to Ubinskoe village, and then you need to take another bus to Ubinskoe - Cherny Cape village.
