Lake Chany

Lake Chany is one of the largest lakes in the world, the third biggest lake in Siberia (after Baikal and Taymyr Lakes). The reservoir occupies 1400 sq km. The depth is 2-7 m. The lake takes 100 km long and 60 km in wide. The coasts are mostly covered with reeds.

Lake Chany consists of three connected lakes: Bolshie Chany, Malie Chany and Yarkul. The mineral level in different parts of the lake differs. In Malie Chany the water is fresh, in Bolshie Chany the water is brackish, and in Yarkul - salty. The maximum water temperature in summer is + 28.3 ° C.

The water has medicinal properties. Moderately saline it has beneficial effect to the human body: calming effect normalizes the general condition and improves health, helps to clean the body of toxins and harmful substances. Healing effect is provided not only by water, but also by air.

Lake Chany is a favorite place for winter and summer fishing. In the reservoir there are 16 species of fish: crucian, perch, carp, ide, pike perch, roach, dace, bream, etc. In addition, Lake Chany is a real bird “state”. There are about 300 species of birds: geese, ducks, swans, herons, cranes and even pelican’s nest, as well as one of the largest colonies of the seagull. Fishermen and hunters come to the lake from different parts of our country.

On the lake there are about 70 islands. The islands and peninsulas have the following feature: most of them are from the south-west to the northeast.
