Kuybyshevsky Museum of Local History

The Kuybyshevsky Museum of Local History is part of the Museum Complex of the city of Kuybyshev. It was opened in 1988. The museum is located in the merchant mansion, which was built in 1911. The building retains arched constructions of door and window openings. The yard, the stone wall separating the yard from the street, the stable remained at the house. The exposition of the museum reveals the history of the city of Kuybyshev, in the past the city of Kainsk, one of the oldest cities in Western Siberia.

A separate complex presents the exhibits of the archaeological collection of N.I. Martynov, who in 1970-80 yrs. of XX century together with the West Siberian detachment of the North-Asian Complex of the expedition of the Institute of History, Philology and Philosophy of the Siberian branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR conducted excavations in the Kuybyshevsky district. Ancient settlements and burial grounds from the Paleolithic era to the 11th-millennium ad inclusive were discovered and investigated.

The residential merchant interior of the late XIX-early XX centuries is presented here. There is an exposition "Our region during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" there on the second floor. The exposition "The stable of the merchant I.A. Levako" is the component detailing part of the historical exposition of the museum of local history. There is an open-air exposition "Yard merchant economy of the late XIX-early XX centuries" there in the territory of the courtyard of the museum.

The museum offers sightseeing and thematic tours of the exhibits, as well as a walking tour held in the old part of the city, which introduces one with the history of the origin of the city of Kuybyshev (Kainsk).

How to get there: the distance from the city of Novosibirsk to the city of Kuybyshev is 330 km by car. One can get from the Novosibirsk bus station (43a Dmitriya Shamshurina ul.) to the city of Kuybyshev by bus on the route "Novosibirsk-Severnoye".
