The Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center named after academician E.N. Meshalkin".


It was established in the late 50s. of XX century among the first institutions of the Siberian branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Currently, the Center is one of the largest multidisciplinary scientific, clinical and educational institutions of specialized medical care of the Ministry of Public Health of Russia.

Modern powerful diagnostic and treatment services have been established and are functioning at the National Medical Research Center. Oncology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, transplantation are developing along with cardiovascular surgery. Specialists perform all existing types of surgeries on heart and blood vessels, including
interventions at disorders of cerebral circulation, transplantation of heart and other organs, radiosurgery and radiation treatment of combined cardiovascular and oncological, angioneurological and oncological pathology, including hard-to-reach tumors of brain and nervous system. Residents of all regions of Russia and residents of other countries receive assistance in these areas.

The Center employs about 2,000 employees, including academicians and corresponding members of Russian and leading international academies, professors, doctors and candidates of science, every third medical specialist has a scholastic degree. Development of the center, namely development of new methods of diagnosis and treatment,
are being successfully implemented in many domestic and foreign clinics. Joint scientific programs are being implemented together with institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences, institutions of the Ministry of Public Health of Russia, as well as with foreign colleagues.

The main activities of the Institute are as following:

- Cardiovascular surgery: congenital heart defects; acquired heart defects; surgery of aorta and coronary arteries; surgery of cardiac arrhythmias; surgical treatment of cardiomyopathies; surgery of vascular pathology.
- Neurosurgery: vascular pathology; neurooncology; other diseases: traumatic brain disease and its consequences; degenerative diseases of the spine; hydrocephalus; Parkinson's disease.
 - Oncology: benign and malignant neoplasms of brain, spinal cord and other parts of CNS; lips, mouth, pharynx; respiratory tract, bronchi, lung; gastrointestinal tract; female genital organs; breast; urinary system; prostate; thyroid and adrenal glands; lymphoma.
- Pediatrics: high pulmonary hypertension at heart diseases and primary pulmonary hypertension.
- Obstetrics and gynecology: delivery in cases of cardiac pathology of mother.
- Transplantation: heart transplantation; kidney transplantation, including related.

Paid medical services are provided in addition to the guaranteed amount of free medical care. The provision of paid medical services by the Center is organized in order to increase the availability of medical care to patients, meet the need for high-tech medical care in case of budget deficit, as well as to create sources of targeted funding for the subject items of the Center's costs that do not receive sufficient funding from the Federal budget, including to ensure and improve the quality of free high-tech medical care.

Staying in the clinic is an individual approach, constant attention of the staff and high level of comfort. Wards of the Institute suggest double-, three -, four-bed accommodation. The patient is provided with everything necessary (dishes and bed linen), except for personal hygiene items and change of clothes. Nutrition is carried out in accordance with the characteristics of the disease and is an integral part of the treatment process.
