Church for the sake of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God
The Church in the name of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God was built by order of the Akmola diocese during 1900-1910 yrs. in the village of Lebyazhye. The village was later renamed into Pokrovka exactly in honor of the church. In 2000, it was recognized as an architectural monument as one of the largest stone churches of the early XX century (the area of the church is 300 sq.m.). The building was put on state protection. The restoration project was made, the scientific-and-research work was carried out. By the time of restoration, the church was almost completely destroyed. In the process of restoration, the arched brick coverings and roof, the bell tower and cornices were restored, the domes of the towers and orthodox crosses were recreated, the historical brick facades were restored. The original hammered metal window screens were preserved. The interior of the church was also restored: constructors plastered the walls, recreated the stucco decoration on the ceilings and walls, repaired wooden floors.
In 2012, the restoration was completed. Currently, the church services are held here. Icons that once belonged to the church in early XX century were returned. The Divine Liturgy is held at the church on October 14, which is the day of the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God.
