Monument to Emperor Alexander the III
Alexander III Aleksandrovich (February 26 (March 10), 1845, the city of Saint-Petersburg - October 20 (November 1), 1894, the city of Crimea) was the Emperor of Russia, Tsar of Poland and Grand Duke of Finland from March 1 (13), 1881. Son of Emperor Aleksandr II and father of the last Russian monarch Nicholas II.
The monument to the Emperor is in the city of Novosibirsk not coincidentally. According to the decision of Alexander III, the construction of the Trans-Siberian railway, which predetermined the development of the city of Novonikolayevsk (now the city of Novosibirsk), began.
The total height of the monument is 13 m. The sculptor - people's artist of the Russian Federation Salavat Shcherbakov (the city of Moscow).
The opening solemn ceremony of the monument to Alexander III launched the celebration of the 119th anniversary of the city of Novosibirsk on June 25, 2012. The opening of the memorial was preceded by a 3-hour symphonic concert of Russian classics under the open sky. The ceremony was attended by the guest of honor, i.e. the great-grandson of Emperor Alexander III, the citizen of Denmark Pavel Kulikovskii, who arrived due to the invitation of the Novosibirsk Noble Assembly.
