Pokrovsky Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Convent
The Pokrovsky Alexander Nevsky diocesan convent was founded in 1991. During his first visit to Siberia, his Holiness Patriarch Alexy II visited the village of Kolyvan. On May 16, 1991, on the feast of the Lord's Ascension, his Holiness Patriarch consecrated the Cross (now located in the vestibule of the temple) and the cornerstone of the residential housing of the women's monastery created .
On July 19, 1992, after the completion of the restoration, Bishop Tikhon made a solemn consecration of the temple, in which the first sisters were already working.
Currently, 40 sisters of charity belabour at the Pokrovsky Aleksandro-Nevsky convent. They carry out a variety of obediences such as: in the temple, in the choir, in the bell tower, in the icon-painting workshop, in the sacristy, in the refectory, in the boiler room, in the utility room. They also take care of the elderly and sick parishioners of the temple, conduct Sunday school classes with orphans from the boarding school. From the harvest collected from its vegetable gardens, the monastery sends aid to several children's institutions and parishes.
