Cathedral in honor of the Transfiguration

The construction of the Cathedral in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord was started on July 7, 1992 due to the project of the Novosibirsk architect Petr Aleksandrovich Chernobrovtsev.

The temple has two levels:
• lower one - in the name of 3 saints (was consecrated in 1999 by Bishop Sergius (Sokolov);
• upper one - in the name of Transfiguration of the Lord.

The minor consecration of the upper temple took place in 2001, and the consecration of the main throne by Archbishop Tikhon (Emelyanov) took place in 2004. The relics of the Venerable Martyr Acacius of Athos were placed in the throne.

In August 1998, 9 bells were brought from the city of Kamensk-Uralsk, and were installed on the cathedral belfry.
In the church fence near the altar there are the graves of Archimandrite Macarius (Remorov) and Bishop Sergius (Sokolov), the first Bishop of the city of Novosibirsk and the city of Berdsk.

The Transfiguration Cathedral has many venerated icons and shrines such as:
• Icon of the Annunciation. This icon was brought by parishioners in 2001 before the feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God.
• Kazan Icon of the Mother of God (robe embroidered and decorated with nun Zoia).
• Church icons are as follows: The Transfiguration of the Lord and the Icon of the Three saints.
• Icons, presented by Archbishop Sergius such as: Christ the Saviour, the Most Holy Mother of God, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
• Foot of the Mother of God, brought from the Pochayev monastery.

How to get there: the distance from the city of Novosibirsk to the city of Berdsk is 38 km by car. One can get from the city of Novosibirsk to the city of Berdsk by commuter train from the River port or the station "Novosibirsk-Main" (43 Dmitriya Shamshurin str.). Then, from the stop "Station" of the city of Berdsk (via Vokzalnaya street) it is necessary to take the bus No. 2 to get to the stop "Shchetinkina" (via Mayakovskogo street) and walk to the cathedral building, turning to Razina str. (the city Berdsk).
