House of Culture named after October Revolution

The construction of clubs began in the mid-1920s in the city of Novosibirsk. They were supposed to conduct great cultural-and-educational work and create conditions for the development of human labor. Clubs have become a hot topic, attracting architects with the novelty of social content.

The building of the club of the Union of Soviet trade employees was built on the corner of Stalina Avenue (now Lenina str.) and Revolyutsii str. in 1928 due to the project of I.A. Burlakov. It is built under the principles of constructivism, and the internal structure of the building is reflected in the exterior. The building is included into the list of 800 world masterpieces of avant-garde architecture.

Since 1934 the club was named after I.V. Stalin. In 1941-1944 it housed the evacuated Leningrad Symphony Orchestra. In 1942, in the presence of the author, the first premiere of D. Shostakovich's "Seventh Symphony" took place in the Urals, the famous art critic gave lectures here. It was I.I. Sollertinskii. In 1961, the club was renamed into the "House of Culture of the October Revolution", hence its popular name "Cobra". The same name was got the modern business center attached to the club .

The House of Culture named after the October Revolution is the historical monument of regional importance.
