Bust of A.S. Pushkin in the courtyard of the Pedagogical Lyceum
The restored bust of A.S. Pushkin was installed in the courtyard of the Pedagogical Lyceum on October 19, 2007, just on the anniversary of the opening of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum. Originally, it was located in Zayeltsovsky park. According to unconfirmed evidence, the authors of the bust, i.e. the sculptor Matvei Manizer and Doctor of Architecture, Professor Iosif Langbard. The author of the restoration is sculptor Boris Gorst.
Before it got to the territory of the lyceum, stone Pushkin has undergone many hardships. During the Great Patriotic War, it was installed in Zayeltsovsky park, near the entrance to the library.
Years later, the library moved to a new location, its former building was demolished. The bust of the poet was abandoned. The vandals set at naught over the aged and forgotten stone Pushkin. The broken nose and chipped collar were to be restored by park workers. According to legend, at one time the local sculptor agreed to fix the nose. Then the sculptor disappeared somewhere, and the bust of A.S. Pushkin became rather unfit for the great poet.
Finally, with the mediation of the Novosibirsk Regional Pushkin Society by the autumn of 2007, the bust was restored and it was decided to transfer it to the Pedagogical Lyceum.
