Умревинский острог

One of the main points of interest in the territory of Moshkovsky district is the Umreva prison, i.e. an architectural monument of federal importance, located on the bank of the Umreva channel of the Ob river. This is the first administrative-and-defensive point of the Russian state. It was founded in 1703.

The plan of the prison was removed in 1992, and in 1995, by order of the administration of the Novosibirsk region, the territory of the prison in the Moshkovsky district was given the status of lands of historical-and-cultural importance with a special regime of maintenance.

Archaeological excavations in 2000-2004 yrs. revealed well preserved fortifications such as: moat and corner of the fence, as well as ancient graves, household items, the foundation of one of the towers. The two-storeyed tower with loopholes was restored on this foundation in 2003, the memorial cross was installed and consecrated. In 2005, the chapel of Christ the Savior (Saviour "Bright eye") was erected and consecrated here.

There are various holidays, summer festivals dedicated to the promotion of craft skills, reflected in the unity of history and culture, held on the basis of the Umreva prison. The International Festival of Ceramists, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk region, takes place, bringing together master ceramists from all over Russia and abroad.

How to get there: the distance from the worker's settlement of Moshkovo (district center) to the village of Umreva is 38 km by car, the distance from the city of Novosibirsk to the village of Umreva is 100 km by car. The entrance from the highway M 53 (there is the pointer "Umreva prison"), then through the settlement of Obskoy, the village of Umreva. It is necessary to move towards the Ob river, in the direction of the above-mentioned pointer, at the exit of the village. The distance is about 4 km, the first part - along the field road, then – along the forest road.
One can get to the w.s. of Moshkovo by electric train on the routes "Novosibirsk-Main-Moshkovo", "Novosibirsk-Main-Oyash", "Novosibirsk-Main-Bolotnaya". One can get from the Novosibirsk bus station (43a Dmitriya Shamshurina ul.) to the w.s. of Moshkovo by bus on the route "Novosibirsk-Yurga". In addition, bus No. 130 goes from the public transport stop "Uchitelskaya" to the settlement of Moshkovo. There is daily bus from the settlement of Moshkovo to the village of Umreva on the route "Moshkovo-Tashara-Umreva".
