Центр «Сибирь-Хоккайдо»
The Cultural Center "Siberia-Hokkaido" was opened in 1996. It was created by the joint efforts of the residents of the city of Novosibirsk and the sister-city of Sapporo (Japan). During the construction of the unique building of the center, Novosibirsk architects and builders came to Sapporo to get acquainted with the Japanese experience, Japanese experts also participated in the construction.
The center is created for the following purposes:
- strengthening of sister-city ties with Sapporo;
- promoting of mutual understanding between Japan and Russia by familiarizing with the culture, language and traditions of the peoples of the two countries;
- development of exchange between the city of Novosibirsk and Japan.
Its main activities are as follows:
- Activities aimed at strengthening of sister-city relationship: assistance in establishing of relations of organizations and associations of the city of Novosibirsk with Japanese collectives, reception of delegations from Japan and trips of Novosibirsk residents to Japan, promotion of potential of the city of Novosibirsk in the city of Sapporo and Japan, consulting assistance to citizens in the questions connected with Japan.
- Holding of cultural events such as: exhibitions, city and district mass cultural events, children's sports and creative holidays, competitions in the Japanese language, seminars on Japanese martial arts. Most of the events are attended by invited Japanese specialists.
- Excursions to the Museum "Siberia-Hokkaido" with master classes for schoolchildren, students and adults (upon prior request, details on the web-site of the center "Siberia-Hokkaido").

Monday–Thursday: 9:00-18:00
A lunch break is from 13:00 to 14:00
