Historical mosque in the city of Novosibirsk
The Historic Mosque was built in the Tatar large industrial settlement of the city of Novonikolayevsk in 1916. In Soviet times, the City Executive Committee removed the minaret and added a second floor. It housed club of firefighters, hospital during the war, recently before the transfer to muslims the building was occupied by the business organization "Novosibdorstroi".
The historical mosque is especially valuable to old residents. The reconstruction of the mosque began in 2010. The building is completely constructed of new material, i.e. round timber. Only the rubble stone in the foundation will remain out of all old items.
The mosque in the new form will retain the shape of the old pre-revolutionary structure, but will be somewhat larger in size: will draw the square, built in the Soviet era.
Erkin Ziiavitdinov became the fifth Imam in the history of the first Novosibirsk mosque.
