Cathedral in the name of the St. Apostle Andrew the First Called
The Cathedral of St. Andrew the Apostle was built in the city of Karasuk in 2006. Due to architectural style it belongs to a mixed type of temple buildings, in which both Byzantine and Russian architectural church traditions are present. The cathedral was built according to the project of the temple in the urban-type settlement of Kochenyovo, Novosibirsk region, with some changes. The building is shaped like a cross in accordance with the ancient Christian tradition and symbolism. It is constructed mainly of red brick. It has three domes in honor of the Holy Trinity. The cathedral is divided into three main parts inside: vestibule, the middle part and the altar. Capacity is about 300 people.
The administrative building of the Karasuk diocesan administration and the Bishop's house are located in the territory of the cathedral. Since its opening, the cathedral has become the focus of the spiritual life of the Orthodox community of the city of Karasuk and Karasuksky district. It began to hold divine services, to perform all the Sacraments of the Orthodox Church. Day of memory of the Apostle Andrew, December 13 is a patronal holiday.
On the bright Easter night from April 30 to May 1, 2016 His Grace Bishop Philip, the clergy of the Cathedral and his parishioners made a procession around the Cathedral under the Easter bell. Then, Easter Matins and Divine Liturgy were celebrated.
