Temple in honor of the Nativity of John the Forerunner
The Temple in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist is the only one of the five former temples in the city of Kuybyshev that survived the years of Soviet power.
The temple was built on the donations of Aleksandra Ivanovna Shkroeva, widow of Cainish merchant of 1-st guild of Ivan Vasilevich Shkroev. It was consecrated in November 1904. The temple is an interesting example of eclectic style. It was closed in 1938. During the Soviet era, the temple building was used as grain store, cinema, museum of local history.
The Temple of the Nativity of John the Baptist was consecrated by His grace Tikhon, Bishop of the city of Novosibirsk and the city of Barnaul in 1993. In 2007, the parish was given the building of the parish school. It housed a Sunday school, sacristy, library, refectory, carpenter's shop, and church artist's workshop.
The construction of the parish administration building in the temple territory began in 2009. The restoration of the facades was completed in 2010. Currently, works are being carried out on the painting of the temple by a local icon painter. The temple is proud of its shrines: here are stored Icons with particles of relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh and the Holy Martyr Cyprian.
